About 30 years ago Sheila McDonald was separated from her family and placed in the sheltering arms of the Harris Home for Children. At just 14 years-old Sheila was alone and in a foreign place, but there she found home. Sheila notes that she was given a normal and nurturing childhood for the first time in her life. Today, Sheila McDonald is a program analyst with the Mission Operations Lab at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and has previously served as a Board Member on the Harris Home for Children's Board of Directors in an effort to give back and contribute to the home she found all those years ago.
"I know how valuable a fostering environment can be, so I do everything I can to help others and encourage them to make a change for the better. There's no better feeling."- Sheila McDonald
