HUNTSVILLE, AL - January 2020 - New Home for Boys

Harris Home for Children to open a new home in North Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, AL January 2020- The Harris Home for Children, headquartered in Huntsville, AL, is pleased to announce the acquisition of a new home for boys in North Huntsville.

The home, located at 9906 Memorial Parkway, will house 13 boys between the ages of 13 and 18 and will free up space for more children at the organization’s current location on Church Street. The Harris Home for Children serves as the only crisis support program in the state for children who need out-of-home care.

“We are proud to be able to open the doors of this house to the youths in our community who desperately need a place to call home,” said CEO Reginald McKenzie.

With an anticipated move-in date in March, Harris Home is asking for community support as they work to prepare the home. Items needed are furnishings, linens, kitchen supplies, and more. They will be hosting an Open-House on February 25th for community leaders and those who might be interested in supporting their efforts.

“What we really need right now is for the leaders in our community to say, ‘Yes, these kids deserve a safe place where they can feel at home, and I want to help make that happen,’” McKenzie continued.

Since opening its doors in 1954, The Harris Home for Children has provided a home and support services for more than 3,000 neglected children and those in crisis situations including room and board, tutoring, transportation, and more. The Harris Home for Children is located at 1210 Church St NW. For more information about the organization and the services, they offer please visit
